CV Writing Advice
Your CV is your first opportunity to make an impression — and in a fast-moving industry like Food & FMCG, hiring managers often make decisions in seconds. A clear, tailored CV can make all the difference.
Keep it clear and simple
- Stick to three pages maximum (unless you’re very senior).
- Use a clean, professional layout with consistent fonts and spacing.
- Avoid jargon, buzzwords, or overly complex language.
Tailor it to the role
As concise and relevant as possible. We can help you with this.
- Match your CV to the job description — highlight the skills and experience that fit best.
- Move the most relevant achievements higher up the page.
- Use keywords from the advert — many employers use software that scans for them.
Highlight achievements, not just duties
Instead of listing responsibilities, show how you made an impact:
- “Reduced downtime by 15% through a preventative maintenance schedule.”
- “Led a team of 6 engineers to deliver a new product line 2 weeks ahead of schedule.”
Make technical skills easy to spot
Especially important in Food & FMCG engineering and technical roles. Create a short “Skills” section for software, equipment, or industry-specific expertise.
Don’t forget the basics
- Avoid complex graphics
- Double-check spelling and grammar.
- Include your contact details clearly at the top.
- Save and send as a PDF where possible.
